Who is Axle Telecom?
Axle Telecom (Axle) is a Canadian-owned telecommunications company dedicated to connecting small, underserved, rural communities.
Axle is part of a family of local telecom networks owned by the WPC Infrastructure Fund, which is managed by Windsor Private Capital (WPC), a Toronto-based investment firm with a breadth of experience in a wide range of industry sectors. WPC has recently expanded the fund through investments in telecommunications providers EH!tel Networks, Bruce Telecom, GBTel and Axle Telecom on behalf of LiUNA Pension Fund of Central and Eastern Canada, one of the country’s largest private sector union sponsored pension funds. Together, these local networks bring reliable, affordable, high-speed internet services to homes and businesses in unserved and underserved areas of Ontario including Northumberland, Grey, Bruce, Dufferin, Southgate, Wellington, and Middlesex counties.
What is Axle’s involvement in the Northumberland Broadband Initiative?
Axle Telecom (Axle) is bringing reliable, high speed internet to Northumberland County. As part of the Northumberland Broadband Initiative launched by Northumberland County, Axle is building and investing the infrastructure necessary to provide up to 11,000 homes and businesses with access to essential high speed internet. This infrastructure will allow previously underserved areas of Northumberland County to connect to Axle’s state-of-the-art Broadband network, finally providing the digital connectivity infrastructure the community deserves.

When does fibre construction begin?
Construction of our fibre infrastructure will begin in Spring 2025 and continue throughout the year. Our team will be working tirelessly to build a modern fibre network that will bring you the high-speed connectivity you deserve.
Is my home included in the fibre rollout?
Please refer to the coverage map to see the overall area included in the project. The fibre project will be completed in multiple phases throughout 2025. Addresses for Phase One have been defined and construction is underway. If your address is eligible, we’ll reach out to you through door-to-door visits and mailed letters with details on the project and next steps. For inquiries about your specific address, please give us a call or send us an email.
Once the construction is complete, what’s the home installation process?
Fibre-optic cables will be installed along roads and extended to homes. To bring fibre to your property, you’ll need to provide consent through our consent form. Once installation is complete, you can sign up for services and take advantage of bundling options to save.
Why should I provide consent now? What if I want to wait?
Providing consent now ensures that the necessary fibre infrastructure is brought to your home during the construction phase, giving you access to our fibre services without any delays once they are available. Additionally, by signing up early, you may take advantage of special promotions, discounts, and savings as we roll out our services.
The consent form is necessary to bring fibre from the road to your home during construction. There’s no cost or obligation; signing just ensures your home is ready to connect when the network goes live in Fall 2025. This way, you won’t have to wait longer when the service is available.
How do I sign the consent form?
You’ll receive a consent form via mail from one of our doorknockers, or you can fill it out here. Simply sign it, snap a picture, or scan it and follow the instructions on the form for electronic submission.
When can I start using Axle Telecom’s services?
Homes will be able to connect to Axle Telecom’s fibre services starting in Fall 2025. We will let you know when service is ready in your area, and our team will work with you to set everything up.
What is Fibre-to-the-Home? (FTTH)
FTTH delivers high-speed connectivity via optical fibre cables, which are made of ultra-thin glass stands installed through aerial or underground networks. These cables provide faster and more reliable connectivity than copper or cable networks.
What are the benefits of fibre-to-the-Home?
- Faster speeds: With Internet speeds up to 1GB, fibre provides some of the fastest Internet speeds available, allowing for seamless streaming, gaming, and downloading.

What Equipment is required to access FTTH?
